July 1st, 2018 proved to be an exciting day for the heating oil industry in Maine. That’s because the Pine Tree State made the full and complete switch to ultra-low sulfur heating oil (ULSHO).
This commitment by the heating oil industry, in partnership with our state government, means that homeowners will experience some very significant benefits now and into the future:
ULSHO reduces particulate emissions. While regular heating oil has had super-low emissions for years, ULSHO takes it to a whole new level. This means that sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions will be virtually eliminated.
Systems will operate more efficiently. ULSHO will result in far fewer deposits of materials like ash, which means that boilers and furnaces will operate more efficiently and turn more heating oil into heat to warm your home.
Maintenance requirements will be reduced. Because ULSHO so drastically reduces emissions, deposits and sediment, the lifespan of heating equipment will be extended and maintenance issues will be reduced.
And the best part is, you don’t have to do a thing! You’ll be realizing the benefits of this cleaner, more efficient and more environmentally fuel automatically. Read more about clean and green oilheat here.
